This book describes 52 history weekends in Northern California, plus Lee's suggestions for a good dining and lodging experience on each trip. The book considers the appropriate time of year for various trips and projects a clockwise sequence of outings, starting in the San Francisco region, then exploring north, east, and south. This book won a Lowell Thomas Award for guidebooks.

The volatile travel information in this book is out of date, but the cultural and natural history insights are appreciated by fans of this thorough book on the region south of San Francisco.

A survey guidebook on Northern California, covering San Francisco and all the regions north, east, and south. $12.95. This book was part of a national chain of guidebooks originally set up by Robert Fisher. The changeable information in this book is now out of date, but it is appreciated for its overview of Northern California.
