The use of light to create art, at night, with the City as the canvas, has become a major form of artistic expression in San Francisco in recent years. The most dramatic of these installations is Leo Villareal’s The Bay Lights, which lights up the north side of the western span of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge in an ever-changing display. However, there are also a number of other major light-as-art installations in the central part of the city, all available for free for the night explorer to enjoy. Here are three light sculptures to consider.
